Anyone know the “Mountain Song” by Holly Near?  I feel like that song lives in me every-time I’m in these mountains - there is no where else quite like this place.

President Franklin Roosevelt signed the ambitious but controversial Tennessee Valley Authority Act 80 years ago on May 18, 1933, to provide navigation, flood control, electricity generation, fertilizer manufacturing, and economic development in the Tennessee Valley, a region particularly affected by the Great Depression.

Excerpts from:

You mean the generation that paid three times as much for college to enter a job market with triple the unemployment isn’t interested in purchasing the assets of the generation who just blew an enormous housing bubble and kept it from popping through quantitative easing and out-and-out federal support? Curious.

I’ve got an Indiegogo Campaign that is up and running for the next 18 days raising funds for me to go to Raleigh-Durham next month to get my Non-Profit Management Certification through Duke University.  It is a graduate level certification and will help me to really help others in their organizational needs.

Throughout my last 15 years of service in arts, culture, education, and historic organizations I’ve consistently seen 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations struggle - whether through board development, fundraising, marketing, advocacy & volunteer efforts, or through best-practices in record-keeping and law-abiding duties.  When organizations are weak at the core it makes for a difficult foundation to build community upon.

I’m only needing to raise $2,500 to cover my costs for the program, and in exchange for contributions there are wonderful perks such as original art work, archival prints of original photography, photo-shoot sessions, non-profit consultations, and more!  There are ‘thank you’ tiers for as little as $5 because every dollar helps and I am so very appreciative of any support.

Please consider contributing what you can and in spreading the campaign to others.  Thank you!!
